Government Polytechnic

The Institute was set up in August 1963, with three disciplines namely Civil, Mechanical and Electrical with 40 seats in each disciplines. Prior to this period this Institution was known as 'Escola de Industrial e Commercial' under the Portuguese rule and certificate courses were conducted in different vocations.

After the Liberation of Goa the Institute of 'Escola de Industrial e Commercial' was upgraded to the Polytechnic status. It was shifted to the spacious campus at the picturesque Altinho hill in 1968. Initially it was affiliated to the Board of Technical Examinations, Maharashtra state. Since 1988 it is under the Board of Technical Education, Goa.There are totally Twelve (12) Diploma Programmes being conducted in this Institute. The latest addition being Diploma in Computer Engineering. The programmes are conducted in the Main Building and the Extension Wing of the Institute. The courses offered are of two types as shown below:
