Six kilometers south of Palolem is Galgibag, an area of outstanding natural beauty, empty white sand beaches fringed by palm and fir trees, rivers, mangroves and forests. Intimate open air bars and restaurants nestle in with the landscape and provide fresh seafood cooked in the Goan way, in this setting you will find the Mata Shree. Standing alone, with no other buildings to mar the view on all sides, this exceptional old hotel is an oasis of calm.

Just a few minutes away is an extraordinary beach which the Goan government have declared a wildlife sanctuary. This protected area is one of the few places left on earth where olive ridley turtles come to lay their eggs. No building is allowed and no hawkers, sellers etc roam the beach, so perfect peace is guaranteed.

The hotel has twelve rooms all en-suite. Two rooms are an ample size and can cater for larger families. Some have television with Tata Sky Plus, there is a choice of a/c or non a/c.

There is both an indoor and outdoor restaurant and bar along with a roof terrace which provides views of the stars in a light unpolluted atmosphere. A recently added feature is a pool room.
