Bastora is a small village situated in the Bardez taluka that is located near Mapusa. Here one can see a lot of greenery and the rural Goa as it has a number of ancestral houses with large fields stretched out in front.
In the earlier days when the Bastora village of Goa was ruled by the Kadamba and Vijaynagar dynasties it was known as Bastodem. The village has a famous publishing and printing institution and also the oldest ice factory and a handloom mill are situated here.
There is a temple in the village of Bastora and a chapel turned church that is almost over two centuries old is also situated here. The church was dedicated to Our Lady of Hope with St. Cajetan as patron. It is known as the St. Cajetan's church.
There are a lot of shops and cafes in Bastora and also there is a school known as the Holy Cross School. There are a number of buses that connect Bastora with the neighbouring places.
